    PARTY CHECKLIST
    Early jobs
Call the Party Organiser if you're going to get one.
Shows - It is important to keep the age group in mind.
Decorations - If the party is outdoors and the place is large, it is usually a better idea to let the organisers take care of the decoration. Otherwise, it is more economical as well as more personalised to do it yourself.
Booking a venue for the party. Make sure you check what all the price includes. If it includes only the food, ask them how far in advance you can drop off the decorations, etc. It saves a lot of last minute bother.
Return gifts - decide on your budget and the supplier and buy the gifts.
    Wrap the return gifts.
If you're not getting a party host, organise all the prerequisites like, punishment chits, parcel to pass around, etc.
Music - a player as well as the appropriate tapes and CDs.
    Invitations and their delivery
Things to buy - Balloons, wall decorations, khoye bag, khoye toys, paper/ thermacol plates, paper/ thermacol glasses, plastic cups (If you're serving jelly/ sambar), paper napkins, streamers, party bags for sweets/ khoye bag toys, wrapping paper for the return gifts and prizes, plastic spoons and forks, caps, masks, candles, sweets / chocolates and a cake knife.
Organise / decide on the child's party outfit. Try it on the child.

    The Day Before
Count the final invitation list and ensure that there are enough wrapped return gifts.
If the food is from outside, confirm with the supplier exactly what time it will be ready.
    Confirm with organiser.
    Organise enough drinking water.
Drinks - put them in the refrigerator.
Arrange for ice, if you think you'll need it.
Wash the plates, glasses and spoons.
Put the jelly to set if you're planning to serve it.
Decide who will handle the birthday gifts and where they will be kept.
Keep the child's party outfit ready and washed. ( And the siblings' too!)
If the party is at home, plan how to shift the furniture.
If you're cooking at home list the ingredients and keep them ready.
Keep the cake knife and candles ready.
Charge the video camera. Put film in the camera. Buy extra film in case you run out.
Make boxes of food for the maids, if you find that more convenient. These boxes can be made in the morning itself.
Decide where the cake will be cut so that it can be set before the children come there. Make sure there is enough space to accommodate the maximum number of children.
